Court Outlines Judges' Rights WASHINGTON (AP) The Supreme Court upheld today the right of trial judges to remove disorderly, disruptive and disrespectful defendants from the courtroom. The court said there are at least three constitutionally permissible ways for a trial judge to handle an obstreperous defendant: He can be bound and gagged, but allowed to remain in the court room; he can be cited for contempt; or he can be taken out of the court room until he promises to conduct himself properly. The ruling was unanimous.
